when in the time line of the fast and the furious does Fast & Furious occur? in the opening scene they tease that the asian in dom's group was going to Tokyo teasing why he was in the third movie and how him and dom know each other. Does this mean this movie occurs in the timeline somewhere around then. This would make sense seeing as the end of Fast & Furious shows dom about to be broke free and in the end of tokyo drift he is racing in japan. maybe to get away from the feds? some help would be nice.

To the answerer you said it takes places between the 1st and 2nd, they are wrong. The 2nd movie(Too Fast Too Furious took place right after the first and showed how Brian was trying to redeem himself to the cops after letting Dom go at the end of the 1st movie."

iceman replied: "You're fine to see the new one! The new movie makes no references to 2fast 2furious at all, and Tokyo Drift is a completely different story altogether. It's difficult to find out where the new movie fits in the timeline, it's almost as if they are completely ignoring 2fast 2 furious. Originally i thought that the new movie fits right after the first one because in 2fast 2furious O'Connor is no longer a cop at all, but in the beginning of the new one he's working for the FBI again...Either way, as long as you saw the first one you're all good...And i would watch Tokyo Drift AFTER seeing the new movie because it explains how one of the characters knows Dom"

Judging by the new place Dominic lives in (by the beach) I'd just assume that he moved further away from them. Maybe he's still friends with them, but I guess they just weren't that important for the story. Although, had it been up to me, they both would have made an appearance, I thought about that before seeing the fourth installment, sucks they were a no show. Maybe something happened during casting, they were busy, or maybe they didn't want to do it, who knows?"
