kenny c replied: "to get it to connect on the desktop manager(dtm) click on options, connection settings and then detect. It will tell you to make sure that your blackberrys plugged in just click ok and it should find it. Click okay untill you get back out to the dtm screen with app loader, backup and restore, ect. It should say connected at the bottom of the screen.
For the music i would definanty use dtm because it is much easier than copying the files directly to your card and it usually works better. Good luck!"

Blackberry Pearl? Ok, this is kinda weird. My Blackberry pearl when is connected to my USB port if found by Mass Storage even though i cant click in to open the storage devices. before whenever i ran Blackberry Desktop Manager my phone detected and i was able to tranfer picture, video, music, and syncronize my phonebook. But for some reason as of today, whenever i plugged the phone, the phone itself will tell me that the USB port is not sufficient to charger the phone.
At the same time Blackberry Desktop Manager does not find my phone any more. I have a brand new computer with 10 USB 2.0 Ports and they are all working. Im using Windows XP Pro Sp2.
What i will like to kno is how to fix this? show i reinstall the program? even though without the program running whenever i plug just the phone, the phone itself on its screen gives me that warning of not being capable of being charger due to unsufficient USB port.
quick thing, while on my phone i can play and view video and music as my pictures too from my card. the problem is desktop manager not detecting my BB once connected to the computer. I have changed any settings or anything of that matter. Thanks for the help
Adam T replied: "For the mass storage problem, does your BB Pearl still have a memory card installed? If it is installed, maybe it is not seated properly in the card slot. Try taking out the micro SD card and put it back in. It could also be a problem with the card itself. If you cannot view or play any of the videos, pictures, etc., then maybe formatting the card will fix it.
Assuming your computer is capable of setting the correct power level to charge the BB, start the BB Device Manager program first, then plug in your BB. The Device Manager is not the same as the Desktop Manager. One of its purposes is to set the correct output to the USB ports for charging the BB.
For the Desktop Manager problem, plug in your BB. Start the program and then go to Options, Connection settings, then click the Detect button. Sounds like you changed to a different port than what the Desktop Manager was used to.
Buena suerte"

BlackBerry won't work!!? have been experiencing problems with my AT&T Blackberry Bold (9000).
At first, it appeared dead; the device wouldn't charge, reboot, turn on or exhibit ANY signs of life, except for a blinking red light when I would plug it in the charger (however, it was NOT charging).
I tried a reset (Alt + Shift + Del) and now it is no longer blinking red, but the screen is white and reading an error message "Reload Software 507."
Even though the computer beeps when I plug the BB in by USB, the Desktop Manager 4.6 will not acknowledge the connection.
I HAVE ALREADY ATTEMPTED THE FOLLOWING:
- pulling the battery, then replacing it
- pressing "Alt + Shift + Del" simultaneously
- re-installing the designated AT&T/Blackberry 9000 OS for the device (there were 2 downloads, Desktop Manager and handheld device)
Nothing has worked. The phone still says "Reload Software 507.'
When I go through the Application Loader Wizard, I get stuck by an error message that says "The BlackBerry Desktop Software does not have BlackBerry Device Software for the device you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator."

How do I put ringtones onto my micro SD card on Blackberry Curve? I think I have figured out how to put pictures on to the card, but I have yet to figure out how to put my ringtones on there. I'll be switching phones soon and don't want ot have to buy those ringtones again.
Please note: I DO NOT have the Blackberry Desktop thing. I bought the phone off Ebay and it was just the phone and charger. So I need a way to do this WITHOUT that thing.

go to this site or blackberrys site and you can download the desktop manager from there. that is going to be the easiest way to do it. but if you have verizon then you may download them again on the new phone and they will credit you for them. they cannot charge you twice for the same ringtone."
Whats wrong with my phone? Blackberry Curve? I placed on both wall and desktop charger, but it starts to charge for a few seconds and then stops and no matter how many times i try and chargers i use it does the same thing.
netwerx@rocketmail.com replied: "Bad battery or charging mechanism. Replace battery."
McNeil replied: "Don't waist your time buying a battery. Your phone sounds like it has a loose connection in the port where you plug it in at. Your phone should have a factory warranty on it. But they will try to get you to get a battery first just tell them that you have already tried that and it didn't work and they will send you anouther phone. I used to work for ATT."
DANGIT! replied: "contact your network porvider (Tmobile, etc..) they will have an answer, or atleast, hook you up with someone who knows whats up"

quick question regarding my old blackberry and this new blackberry i just lost my blackberry pearl 8100 at a store and nobody has returned it to me anymore =(
so now im considering buying a new phone online but what i would like to buy now is the blackberry 8120. and i saw a brand new one thats up for sale at a very reasonable price but the problem though is only the handset unit and battery is for sale. and i think im cool with that since i still have my old blackberry's wall charger, car charger, earphones, carrying case and all that stuff.
and now my question is.. can i still use my old phone's desktop software for this new phone i'm wanting? coz i dont know.. they're both blackberrys.
thanks very much for your answer. appreciate it =)
have good day.
XGoz replied: "You should be able to. Check the version on your Desktop Software and makes sure it's up to date. I have three different version Blackberry using the same software.
If for some reason it does not work for you, you can simply download the current software for that device. Its pretty easy.

jvm error 513 // no desktop mgr installed // without usb cable? My friend just gave me her old BlackBerry Pearl 8100. I was going through making all the settings what I wanted them as. In the General Options page (I think) it kept telling me to choose a new password, I would put in a password I wanted and it kept telling me I had an Invalid Password Sequence Entered. (This doesnt make much sense if it's asking me to choose a new password). I did this a few times each for 2 different passwords and I also tried the common 5555 and 0000...
Well I finally called my friend who gave me a 4 digit pin to try when when I entered it it let me through. After this, I finally found where I can "Change Password"... I went to this and it asked me to enter "blackberry" and then the password. I entered the 4 digit pin and it said invalid. The 3 on the phone it a bit bummy so I tried it a couple times more all the while saying it was invalid.
Well come to find out apparently after 10 password attempts it hard resets the phone. It went to "wiping" then "scrubbing" which took well over an hour. Now, anytime the battery is in it says "JVM ERROR 513" and I can hit "reset" and it just stays on the screen.
Ive read about having to install the Java platform or the Blackberry OS however, being that this phone is probably about 2 years old I do not have nor does my friend have the data cable that comes with the phone.
I just ordered a trackball and charger from ebay (friend lost both) and I reallllly don't feel like waiting another 2-3 weeks to order a data cable...
My question is :: 1) Is there any other fix (i.e. is this the required fix, installing the OS?) (2) Is there any way to do this without hooking it up to the computer (3) Is there any way to do it without having the Desktop Mgr or BlackBerry software? (4) Any recommendations // advice
renegade37918 replied: "you will have to load the os with desktop manager and you will need the cable to do so.. if you have a digital camera that cable should work minus sony and kodak.you can download the os at blackberry.com"
rcv4e replied: "you need the desktop manager, and the usb cable to install the basic OS software on the phone. the usb cable you can get it at the store, wal-mart, best buy - ask someone here , Fry's."
